The Opportunity
A successful and growing construction contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join its pre-construction team in West Yorkshire.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a business delivering a diverse range of fit-out, refurbishment and construction projects across the commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and public sector markets.
You’ll play a key role in securing future work, producing competitive tenders, and working closely with operational teams to ensure successful project delivery from the outset.
The Role
- Reporting to the Head of Pre-Construction, responsibilities will include:
- Preparing accurate and competitive estimates for fit-out, refurbishment and construction projects.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Undertaking detailed take-offs and cost analysis.
- Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Producing tender submissions and pricing documentation.
- Identifying risks, opportunities and value engineering options.
- Attending site visits, tender interviews and client meetings.
- Working closely with Contracts Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Operations teams.
- Maintaining a strong understanding of market conditions and supply chain pricing.
- Assisting with bid strategy and securing new project opportunities.
About You
Applicants should have
- Previous experience working as an Estimator within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of fit-out, refurbishment and general building projects.
- Experience pricing projects ranging from small works through to multi-million-pound schemes.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical information.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Commercial awareness and a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Experience working for a main contractor, fit-out contractor or refurbishment specialist.
- Familiarity with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding of JCT contracts and procurement routes.
