We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor in General Surgery to join our thriving surgical department at Basildon Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a team committed to delivering outstanding elective and emergency surgical care while driving innovation, education and service improvement.
Working alongside experienced Consultants, Surgical Care Practitioners and trainee doctors, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care across a range of surgical specialties. Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver comprehensive care for elective and emergency general surgical patients, ensuring high standards of safe, effective and patient-centred care.
- Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with acute surgical conditions, including participation in emergency admissions, trauma management and on-call services.
- Participate in consultant-led ward rounds, providing ongoing clinical management and coordinating patient care throughout the surgical pathway.
- Undertake outpatient clinics, theatre sessions and endoscopy lists, contributing to the timely assessment and treatment of patients.
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective communication, continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in the full-shift on-call rota, supporting the provision of 24-hour emergency surgical services.
- Supervise, teach and support junior doctors, medical students and allied health professionals, contributing to education and workforce development.
- Engage actively in clinical audit, governance, quality improvement and service development initiatives, promoting continuous improvement and maintaining high standards of clinical practice.
