For the client's address based in Basildon

37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, shift pattern week 1 0600 to 1400 week 2 0700 to 1500 week 3 1400 to 2200 all with 30 minutes un-paid lunch breaks.

Included within above rate is a 1 in 9 weeks on call - Monday to Sunday.

Attendance paid at appropriate overtime rate.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Shift Engineer to join our engineering team at a well-established manufacturing plant with over 60 years of operational history.

This is a key role supporting production by maintaining and improving a diverse range of electrical systems from legacy infrastructure to modern automated equipment.

You will play a vital part in ensuring reliability, safety, and continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on industrial electrical systems

• Diagnose faults and perform repairs on

  • Motors, drives, and control panels
  • Electrical distribution systems
  • Automated machinery
  • Support the upkeep and improvement of ageing plant infrastructure

• Maintain systems including

  • LV/HV power distribution (up to site-specific levels)
  • Lighting and power systems (110V, 240V, 415V)
  • Building management / BEMS systems
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise outages
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and modernisation projects
  • Ensure all work complies with current electrical and safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams plus management

About You

  • Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Knowledge of industrial power and control systems
  • Certified to current wiring regulations (17th / 18th Edition minimum)
  • Ability to work effectively in a shift-based environment

Experience working with legacy/older plant systems

  • IPAF working at height
  • Working in Confined Spaces

• Knowledge of

  • Power Factor Correction
  • Site services (e. g., utilities, BEMS, LSS)
  • HV authorisation (preferred but not essential)
