Β£15.10 per hour Confined Space Rescue Supplement Overtime Opportunities
Hamton Environmental Services is looking to recruit a reliable and hardworking Industrial Cleaning Operative to join our Soft Services Team at the Basildon.
This is a permanent, full-time role supporting the day-to-day operation of a busy manufacturing facility. The position involves a variety of industrial cleaning and housekeeping activities to help maintain safe, clean, and efficient working areas across the site.
Above all else, we are looking for people who can be depended upon. Reliability, good attendance, a positive attitude, and a willingness to work safely are essential requirements for this role.
Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 15:30 to 00:30
Friday: 12:30 to 17:30
Occasional overtime is available and paid at time and a half.
The Role
The successful candidate will carry out a wide range of industrial cleaning duties, including:
- Cleaning production and assembly areas.
- Industrial cleaning of machinery and equipment.
- General housekeeping and maintaining high site standards.
- Deep cleaning during maintenance and shutdown activities.
- Waste removal and recycling duties.
- Cleaning in engineering and plant areas.
- Confined space cleaning activities following specialist training.
- Supporting other site operational requirements as needed.
The work can be physically demanding at times and will often involve working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Training and Development
Full training will be provided.
Operatives will receive training to Confined Space CS2 and CS3 standards and will be expected to form part of the site's Confined Space Rescue Team. The CS3 responsibility attracts an additional supplement payment on top of the hourly rate.
Hamton actively encourages employees to broaden their skills and gain experience across different areas of the business. Opportunities may be available for cross-functional training to provide support and cover within other site services, including security and cleaning functions.
For employees who demonstrate commitment, reliability, and a strong work ethic, there are opportunities to develop skills and progress into more specialised or supervisory roles over time.

- Be reliable and punctual.
- Have a strong attendance record.
- Be able to work safely and follow procedures.
- Have a practical and hands-on approach to work.
- Be comfortable carrying out physical tasks.
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Be willing to undertake specialist training.
Previous industrial cleaning experience would be beneficial but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
