Domestic Assistant in Barnstaple

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Cleaning wards, clinics, offices, corridors, waiting areas, and public spaces.
• Dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors.
• Cleaning toilets, bathrooms, sinks, showers, and sanitary areas.
• Emptying domestic and clinical waste bins and disposing of waste safely.
• Replenishing supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls.
• Carrying out deep-cleaning tasks and responding to spillages or emergency cleaning situations.
• Using cleaning equipment and chemicals safely in line with COSHH and infection prevention policies.
• Reporting maintenance issues, hazards, accidents, or concerns to supervisors.
• Key Skills Required
• Good attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Understanding of hygiene and infection control procedures.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a caring attitude towards patients and visitors.

• Working Pattern
• Various shifts patterns Am & PM Interview Date: W/C Monday 14th September

Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Usually based in hospitals, health centres, clinics, or NHS offices.

The role involves standing, walking, bending, lifting, and manual handling throughout the day.

Preference will be given to staff with Priority and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon.
