I'm recruiting for a Health & Safety Officer to join a well-established manufacturing business in Barnsley.
This is a hands-on role where you'll be expected to spend your time-out on the shop floor rather than behind a desk.
The business is looking for someone who can build relationships with the workforce, support managers, and ensure health, safety, environmental and quality systems are maintained, embedded and continually improved across the site.
The site has a friendly, family-oriented culture where you'll have the opportunity to become a visible part of the team and get to know colleagues across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day Health & Safety support across the manufacturing site.
Maintain and improve HSE policies, procedures and management systems.
Conduct audits, inspections, investigations and corrective actions.
Deliver training and engage employees in safe working practices.
Support contractor management, permit systems and environmental compliance.
Manage and maintain ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems.
Coordinate customer and supplier audits.
Support quality investigations, root cause analysis and customer complaint resolution.
Drive continuous improvement across safety, environmental and quality performance.
About You
Previous Health & Safety experience within manufacturing.
Experience working with ISO management systems.
Confident influencing and engaging employees at all levels.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Practical, hands-on approach with a visible leadership style.
Able to build strong working relationships across a close-knit site team.
