Join our Technical Team at The Compleat Food Group! We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance Technologist to join our team in Barnsley! You will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across our operations. In this role, you will maintain and continuously develop robust validation and verification programmes that support our food safety and quality objectives. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will help ensure compliance with our HACCP-based food safety management systems, retailer standards, and relevant legislation.

Your responsibilities will include areas such as allergen management, meat speciation, nutritional analysis, and document control, while also providing technical expertise to support wider business objectives.

Your Duties Will Include:

  • Acting as a key part of the HACCP team with responsibility for ensuring that control measures are clearly defined and effective at reducing any identified hazards.
  • Design, Application and Monitoring of Allergen Management and Species Control Systems.
  • Design, Application and Monitoring of an Effective Nutritional Conformance Programme.
  • To support the Head of Technical in driving the strategic technical plans across key areas.
  • To ensure that key metrics regarding customer satisfaction are known, understood and that effective steps are in place to manage these.
  • To ensure that there are effective systems in place for managing change within the facility, challenging existing working practices to drive best-in-class but which emphasise a one team approach where needs are balanced.
  • Primary co-ordinator for the control and issue of technical related documentation.
  • To ensure that all activities and responsibilities are undertaken in an effective manner which protects the health, safety and welfare of all individuals at site – not necessarily just those reporting to technical.
  • To make sure that all items of process spend are controlled and that action is taken to not only ensure budget compliance but to drive cost awareness and targeted savings.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Advanced Food Hygiene (Level 4 or equivalent) – minimum (desirable).
  • Minimum 3 years technical experience gained in a fast-paced environment.
  • Recognised HACCP Qualification (Level 3 minimum, ideally Level 4).
  • Degree-level or equivalent (ideally in a food related discipline).
  • Demonstrable skills in report writing.
  • Experience of Statistical Process Control techniques.
  • Recognised Health and Safety Qualification (Level 3 or above).
  • Experience of handling technical contact with the major UK retailers.
  • Strong communication skills and at ease with both telephone and in-person contacts.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Passionate about food.
