This role requires working across all sites that come under the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Under the supervision of the Manual Handling Advisor, this post will assist in the development of the Manual Handling training service, supporting the Lead Manual Handling Advisor to provide a comprehensive manual handling service to the Trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead in the delivery of training programs in Manual Handling practices to all staff, including Patient and Object handling sessions.
  • Provide professional advice on safer Manual Handling practices, training, Clinical Governance issues, and Manual Handling equipment.
  • Assist the Manual Handling Team in maintaining excellent communication internally within the Trust and externally with training providers and contractors.
  • Demonstrate behaviours aligned to the Trust’s shared commitments, embedding compassion, inclusion, integrity, and excellence in day-to-day practice.
  • Provide clinical expertise and advice to managers and staff in relation to Safer Manual Handling practices.
  • Support and assist the Manual Handling Advisors in carrying out assessments for both patients and staff in all workplace settings.
  • Lead in the development and delivery of Manual Handling training programs for all levels of staff.
  • Ensure all Manual Handling training is based on the latest evidence available and adheres to Trust guidelines and relevant legislation.
  • Assist in any Trust-wide review, audit, and standardization of Manual Handling equipment.
  • Work in collaboration with the Manual Handling advisors to investigate adverse incidents related to Manual Handling.
  • Participate in the production of reports, policies, and risk assessments for Manual Handling.
