The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust is the largest specialist orthopaedic Trust in the UK with a world renowned reputation. We are looking for a flexible and enthusiastic HCPC registered radiographer with good general X-ray experience to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will rotate between the two sites (Bolsover Street and Stanmore) with the main site being Bolsover Street.
The Bolsover Street X-ray department has 2 general x-ray rooms. The Stanmore site has 3 general x-ray rooms, 1 fluoroscopy unit, 5 portable ward machines and a DXA scanner. There are 15 theatres along with image intensifiers, O-Arm and Cios Spin machines. We have also acquired EOS and HiRise Ped CT scanners.
The Bolsover Street X-ray department opens Monday to Friday 8am to 6.30 pm. This post includes lone working once the probation period has been completed. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious general radiographer to gain experience in specialised orthopaedic imaging.
The post holder will work across all areas of the X-ray department, the main site will be Bolsover Street with occasional working on the Stanmore site. Bolsover Street has Outpatient x-ray only and Stanmore includes theatres, fluoroscopy, out-patients/in-patient main x-ray and the DXA unit. You will be expected to provide high quality diagnostic images whilst ensuring patient care and safety is paramount.
You will work closely with other members of the team including radiologists, radiographers and clinical support workers and will be expected to be a senior presence within the department and involved in the teaching of students and more junior members of staff. You will be an integral part of the smooth running of the imaging service and communicate effectively with a wide range of staff and patient groups.
You will be expected to manage your workload effectively, applying knowledge and skill to produce high quality images and adapt techniques to meet complex patient requirements. The Trust has recently required the patient information system Epic; all radiographers are required to have good knowledge of the system after training.
RNOH is rated good by the CQC and covers two sites, one in central London and one in Stanmore - which has recently opened The Stanmore Building, a new, state-of-the-art inpatient facility.
The post holder will be flexible as the department operates 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday. Working closely with colleagues you will manage the day to day running of the area you are working in and liaise with other teams and staff members to ensure the effective use of the imaging service.
You will work according to Trust and departmental level protocols and ensure you comply with IRMER2017 and IRR17 regulations at all times, ensuring all patient radiation doses are as low as reasonably practicable and that every exposure is justified. You will ensure the safety of all patients and staff who enter the radiation controlled areas.
You will be expected to keep accurate patient records and manage patient images on PACS and Epic. You will uphold the Trust values of:
