An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Crane Ward at Riverside Centre, an accredited inpatient mental health ward committed to delivering the highest standards of clinical excellence. At CNWL, we are dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care while supporting our staff to develop and progress in their careers. Our inpatient wards are AIMS accredited (Accreditation for Inpatient Mental Health Services), recognising our commitment to delivering safe, effective and high-quality care.

We are proud of our strong focus on staff development, career progression and retention. Many of our Band 5 Nurses have successfully progressed into Band 6 roles, and we continue to support our nursing staff to undertake further education, training and professional development. As part of our commitment to your development, you will have access to opportunities to enhance your clinical skills, build your confidence and progress your career within mental health services.

Please note: Due to the high-acuity nature of the ward environment, this role requires successful candidates to participate in Therapeutic Management of Violence and Aggression (TMVA) training, including the use of force techniques. This training is essential to support the safety of both patients and staff. Appointment to the role is therefore conditional upon the candidate being able to engage and complete the required TMVA training during their employment.

We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills who can communicate effectively with service users, their carers and relatives, as well as colleagues and other healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication skills and a caring, compassionate and person-centred approach to patient care.
  • Motivation and commitment to driving continuous improvement in the quality of care provided to inpatients within a mental health setting.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development, learning and working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • The ability to demonstrate strong clinical leadership and act as a positive role model, promoting and maintaining best practice across the ward and wider unit.
  • A commitment to safe, high-quality and evidence-based practice, with a focus on promoting recovery, dignity and positive outcomes for service users.
  • The ability to work effectively in a high-acuity environment, demonstrating professionalism, resilience and sound clinical judgement.
