As a Technical and Energy Manager , you’ll play a vital role in keeping our facilities fully Statutory and Contract Compliant — ensuring everything operates safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.
You’ll take the lead in reviewing utility data and driving improvements that reduce national grid energy use, optimise green energy systems and enhance how our building fabric and electromechanical plant perform.
Your work will support reliable, efficient operations every day while shaping long‑term energy reduction, sustainability and capital project delivery across the site.
What you’ll do as a Technical and Energy Manager
You’ll be entrusted to
- Lead and support asset management activities, including Safe Systems of Work, compliance documentation and record keeping.
- Manage the on‑site facilities management system and ensure accurate data capture.
- Analyse energy consumption, develop improvement plans and support strategies that reduce national grid demand.
- Support reactive and planned maintenance activity, including budget monitoring and spend analysis.
- Coordinate procurement and delivery of maintenance and planned works.
- Assist with planning and delivering capital projects and minor works activities.
- Manage and coordinate sub‑consultants and subcontractors where required. Contribute to five‑year maintenance planning and monthly performance reporting.
- Maintain and improve the Leisure Energy Management System, driving reductions in energy use and carbon emissions.
- Manage energy data through systems such as Automatic Monitoring & Targeting platforms.
- Support ISO 50001:2018 certification activities in collaboration with energy and sustainability teams.
- Promote Energy Awareness across site teams, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
- Provide control and input into Building Management System (BMS) operating strategies.
- Network with internal and external teams to identify new technologies and funding opportunities.
- Prioritise Health and Safety in all activities and model Serco values in your day‑to‑day work.

- In‑depth knowledge of health, safety and welfare procedures.
- Strong understanding of statutory regulations for buildings, electro‑mechanical systems and quality processes.
- Experience in energy management, ideally within the leisure sector.
- Ability to deliver energy management strategies across regional or national portfolios.
- Understanding of ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems.
- Knowledge of HVAC design, operation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of BMS systems, commissioning and control strategies.
- Experience carrying out energy audits and producing recommendations.
- Strong analytical skills, numeracy and confidence using CAFM systems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with technical and operational colleagues.
- Technical qualifications in maintenance or energy‑related subjects, and leadership experience.
