Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of a highly respected Top 50 accountancy practice for an experienced Accounts Manager / Director to join their successful team. This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious Accounts Manager seeking a genuine pathway to Director or an experienced Accounts Director looking for a fresh challenge within a growing, people-focused firm where career progression is actively supported.
Key Duties
- Manage and develop a varied portfolio of business clients.
- Build trusted, long-term client relationships by acting as a strategic adviser.
- Review and prepare statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.
- Prepare and review corporate and personal tax returns.
- Oversee VAT compliance and HMRC submissions.
- Support business start-ups, company incorporations, and HMRC registrations.
- Deliver proactive business and tax planning advice.
- Support audit and charity/not-for-profit assignments where required.
- Lead, mentor, and develop junior members of the team.
- Manage workflow, review work, and ensure deadlines are achieved.
- Support Directors and Partners with technical and advisory projects.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships and grow service offerings.
Requirements
- ACA or ACCA qualified.
- Previous experience working at Accounts Manager level or above within an accountancy practice.
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and tax returns.
- Experience managing your own client portfolio.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness with a proactive approach.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Audit and charity/not-for-profit experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Ambition to progress your career within a successful and growing practice.
