This rewarding role combines attendance monitoring with student welfare support, giving you the opportunity to work closely with learners and play a key part in helping them achieve their full potential.
The Opportunity
As an Attendance and Welfare Officer, you'll support learners by promoting positive attendance, identifying barriers to engagement, and providing guidance and support to improve student wellbeing and participation.
Working alongside curriculum teams, student services, safeguarding staff, and external agencies, you'll help create a supportive and inclusive environment where learners can flourish both academically and personally.
- What You'll Be Doing
- Monitoring and tracking student attendance across college provision
- Following up on absences and attendance concerns in a timely manner
- Supporting learners who may be facing personal, social, or educational challenges
- Working with students to identify and overcome barriers to attendance and engagement
- Liaising with parents, carers, curriculum teams, and support services where appropriate
- Maintaining accurate attendance and welfare records
- Supporting student wellbeing, retention, and achievement initiatives
- Referring learners to appropriate internal and external support services when required
- Contributing to a positive, safe, and inclusive college environment
- Promoting a culture of attendance, engagement, and learner success
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in attendance, welfare, pastoral support, student services, education, or a related role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities
- A compassionate and learner-centred approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Experience handling sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion
- Knowledge of safeguarding and student wellbeing practices is desirable
- Experience working within schools, colleges, Further Education, or similar settings is advantageous
