The Opportunity
As an Attendance and Engagement Officer, you'll work closely with students, curriculum teams, pastoral staff, and support services to encourage positive attendance habits and promote learner engagement. You'll play a key role in identifying attendance concerns, supporting students facing challenges, and implementing strategies that help learners remain motivated, engaged, and on track to achieve their goals.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Monitoring and tracking student attendance across college provision
- Following up on absences and attendance concerns in a timely and supportive manner
- Building positive relationships with learners to encourage engagement and participation
- Identifying barriers that may affect attendance, motivation, or achievement
- Supporting students through targeted interventions and engagement initiatives
- Working closely with curriculum teams, tutors, and student support services
- Maintaining accurate attendance records and learner information
- Liaising with parents, carers, and external agencies where appropriate
- Supporting learner retention, progression, and achievement
- Promoting a positive, inclusive, and student-centred learning environment
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience in attendance, student engagement, learner support, pastoral care, education, or a related role
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A positive, approachable, and learner-focused attitude
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to motivate and engage learners from a range of backgrounds
- Confidence managing sensitive conversations and challenging situations professionally
- A proactive and solution-focused approach
- Experience within schools, colleges, Further Education, or educational settings is desirable
