We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join our Clinical Health Psychology and Neuropsychology team, based at Charing Cross hospital.
Working within an inpatient setting and embedded within a friendly multidisciplinary team, the post-holder will contribute to the provision of the neuropsychology service to the Charing Cross Neurorehabilitation Unit (CNRU). The post offers excellent opportunities to develop clinical skills in psychological and neuropsychological assessment, formulation and interventions through working directly with individuals presenting with emotional, cognitive and behavioural consequences of acquired brain injuries and long term neurological conditions.
There are also opportunities to be involved in audit, service related research, teaching and training. The post-holder will be fully supported and supervised by the lead clinical psychologist to CNRU and will develop competencies that support career progression in Clinical Psychology.
The post-holder will conduct psychometric assessments with patients, as directed by the Clinical Psychologists. They will score psychometric tools, collate and summarise the data onto specified data sheets and databases and present these along with an observational record of the assessment session to the Clinical Psychologists.
The post-holder will implement cognitive rehabilitation plans developed by the Clinical Psychologists, under supervision. They will implement evidence-based mood interventions, including cognitive behavioural and mindfulness plans.
The post holder will assist in the delivery of group sessions, including preparing documentation ready for the session, taking notes, and facilitating discussions. They will feedback information on patient performance and the Clinical Psychologists’ recommendations to MDT colleagues, as directed and advised by the Clinical Psychologists.
The post-holder may be required to handle clinical queries, to their level of competence, in the absence of their supervisor. They will attend meetings, clinical and other, as a representative of their supervisor as directed, gaining an awareness of wider operational and strategies issues.
The post-holder will maintain adequate records of their involvement with the patient and will maintain clinical databases, as directed. They will carry out clinically related administrative duties, as directed by their supervisor.
