L&Q is in the process of developing our Operational Building Safety Team within the Property Services Directorate. We are pleased to open the opportunity to join the team in the role of Assistant Building Safety Manager. The Assistant Building Safety Manager will support the Building Safety Managers achieving building safety compliance. The role works in close collaboration with Lead Building Safety Managers, Head of Service, and Director of Building Compliance & Engagement, alongside the Strategic Building Safety Team.
As an Assistant Building Safety Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our buildings remain safe, compliant, and well managed. You will be required to frequently visit higher risk residential buildings, travel between sites to conduct inspections including access to plant rooms, roof areas, service risers, staircases, basements and external structures and other operational areas as required. The successful candidate will be required to access different areas of buildings and sites to verify compliance and support building safety activities in all weather conditions in order to achieve, support and maintain compliance with current building safety regulations across buildings within your portfolio.
You will gather and maintain critical building information, assist in developing Building Safety Case Reports, and work closely with Building Safety Managers to identify and manage building safety risks. Through your work, you'll help maintain the highest safety standards, support regulatory compliance, and contribute to creating safe homes and communities for our residents.
We are looking for someone able to assist with promoting, communicating, and engaging across the organisation on building safety matters, including collaboration with residents, leaseholders, internal teams, and external stakeholders. Therefore, you must be confident in open and clear communication. Actively contributing on ‘whole building safety’ matters in all meetings internally and externally regarding allocated buildings.
You will be collaborating with relevant teams to raise the profile of the Building Safety Team and awareness of its objectives and activities, working closely with the Strategic Building Safety team colleagues.
This role will work to ensure that fire safety and building safety activities are correctly tracked and traceable through the Golden Thread, to ensure sufficient evidence is readily available to all stakeholders.
The responsibilities will include contract management of consultants and service providers to source and for the provision of building safety information for the buildings within their remit. Supporting the Building Safety Managers in their duties to ensure that in-scope buildings within their management remit are safe to occupy, that they continue to be safe to occupy and that they comply with the Building Safety Act and other legislations and regulations, as well as taking initiatives to ensure residents also feel safe.
The Assistants will work to regularly review maintenance and testing activities and outcomes, consider all potential risks, including fire and structural matters, whilst delivering high quality building safety management in line with policy, procedures, legislation and government guidance.
