Position: Early Years Teaching Assistant

My client is a large and welcoming primary school in Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside and is seeking a nurturing, enthusiastic, and experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated Early Years team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate individual who understands the importance of providing a strong foundation for children's learning and development.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working within an Early Years setting, supporting young children to develop socially, emotionally, and academically through engaging and purposeful learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality Early Years provision.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to develop communication, language, literacy, and numeracy skills.
  • Assist in creating stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments.
  • Support children's personal, social, and emotional development.
  • Observe, monitor, and record children's progress against EYFS outcomes.
  • Encourage learning through play and child-led activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support children's wellbeing.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.

Person Specification Essential

  • Previous experience working within an Early Years setting (Nursery or Reception).
  • Good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Ability to support children's learning through play-based activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, caring, and positive approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs.
  • Knowledge of phonics programmes and early language development.
