Area Sales Manager | Ophthalmic Devices | Scotland

Zest Optical is working in partnership with a leading global manufacturer of ophthalmic technology to recruit an experienced Area Sales Manager to cover Scotland.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and innovative business at the forefront of ophthalmic diagnostics, medical devices and digital healthcare solutions.

The role will focus on developing sales across the territory, working closely with Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, independent practices, optical groups and other key clinical and commercial decision-makers.

You'll take ownership of the complete sales cycle, combining new business development with strategic account management to deliver sustainable revenue growth across the region.

  • Manage and develop a sales territory across Scotland, driving revenue growth and market share.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across the optometry and ophthalmology sectors.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle from initial prospecting and presentations through to negotiation and closing.
  • Build long-term, consultative relationships with Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Practice Managers, procurement teams and key decision-makers.
  • Develop strategic account plans to maximise opportunities within existing and prospective customers.
  • Promote a portfolio of market-leading ophthalmic diagnostic equipment, medical devices and digital healthcare solutions.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and tailored presentations, communicating both the clinical and commercial benefits of the portfolio.
  • Understand customers' clinical workflows and business requirements to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Drive account growth through upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Develop and execute territory business plans to achieve and exceed quarterly and annual sales targets.
  • Work closely with clinical, technical, marketing and customer support teams to ensure an excellent customer experience.
  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and CRM, using data to identify opportunities and prioritise activity.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market developments and evolving customer requirements.
  • Represent the business at industry conferences, exhibitions and customer events.
  • Proven B2B sales experience within medical devices, diagnostics, healthcare technology or a related sector.
  • A strong track record of territory management, business development and solution-based selling.
  • Experience within optometry or ophthalmology would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience selling diagnostic equipment, medical devices, software or integrated healthcare solutions would be beneficial.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to understand customer requirements and communicate value and ROI.
  • Confident presentation, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable engaging with both clinical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Proactive, resilient and self-motivated with the ability to manage a large territory independently.
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel throughout the region, including occasional overnight stays.
