About Us
Grateley House School is a successful 38-week specialist day school for young people aged 11β19 with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (typically high functioning and/or with associated disorders). Rated βGoodβ by Ofsted, we provide a broad, balanced, and challenging curriculum, preparing students for successful lives beyond school.
We currently support 37 students, with planned growth over the next three years.
About the Role
This is a rewarding role suited to individuals motivated to support children and young people with special educational needs. Itβs also excellent experience for anyone considering a career in teaching. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting students in lessons and during non-structured time.
- Transporting and supporting students at college (driving required).
- Assisting teachers with preparation of work, resources, and equipment.
- Supporting students during on- and off-site activities.
- Completing paperwork to record observations and interventions.
What weβre looking for:
- Previous classroom experience desirable but not essential β full training given.
- It is preferred that applicants hold a driving licence with a view to driving the school vehicles.
- Minimum of GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Commitment to personal learning and development.
- Enthusiastic, focused, and resilient attitude.

Grateley House School is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and expects the same from its employees. All new staff will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance, identity checks, qualification checks and employment checks to include an exploration of any gaps within employment, two satisfactory references and registration with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Cambian will also conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will be based purely on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the search and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
