Advanced Nurse Practitioner | South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust

We are excited to announce we are recruiting an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our Adult Eating Disorder Outpatient Team. ETT provides intensive support in the community and in patients' homes to improve accessibility and reduce inpatient admissions. The post holder will work within the Outpatient service supporting with ETT duties and outpatient duties. They will provide clinical expertise and be a point of escalation. They will support the implementation of ETT, ensuring the team meets its objectives. The ANP will work clinically, hold a caseload and support junior staff with complex cases. This role will be pivotal in supporting the changes that are currently in progress across our Eating Disorder services within the provider collaborative, and to ensure that we continue to deliver the best possible care to the patients that we serve.

Key priorities will be supporting with training, development and providing therapy, assessment, consultation, and treatment. • To be responsible for managing and prioritising own client workload of adults with complex and severe anorexia nervosa.
• To provide appropriate therapy as part of a multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment plan.
• To be responsible for implementing a range of group work interventions focusing on life skills training, motivational and creative activities, systemic, psychological, and psychotherapeutic interventions for individual patients, and carers, families and groups.
• To be responsible for recording clinical work and communicating, both orally and in writing, in a skilled and constructive manner highly complex or distressing information, for example regarding the experience and effects of anorexia and other severe eating disorders.
• Supporting the team with complex cases and jointly visiting patients in their home or in the community to offer senior support.
• To work in close liaison with other services including health and social care, acute hospitals, services across the ED pathway and within the provider collaborative.
• To work collaboratively with the ANP for SLAM Enhanced Treatment Team.
• To work closely with patients and their carers, offering family interventions, support, and guidance.
• To act as care coordinator, taking responsibility for initiating planning and review of care plans.
• To be a clinical expert in the field of Eating Disorders, supporting junior staff with clinician decision making and acting as a point of escalation.

The post-holder will work closely with the outpatient service nursing team and wider MDT. The post-holder will work closely with the Matron and outpatient team manager to lead the enhanced treatment team ensuring it meets its aims and objectives.

• To directly provide assessment, consultation, and treatment, taking responsibility for managing own caseload.
• To contribute to specialist multi-disciplinary eating disorder assessment and treatment.
• To provide teaching and support development of staff within the outpatient service.

The shared nursing role will include:

• To assess referrals to the service in conjunction with other clinicians.
• To jointly provide the additional interventions for patients open to the Enhanced treatment team.
• To contribute to audit and research programmes to evaluate and improve therapy and eating disorder service provision.

The specific role will include leading on robust and highly skilled expert clinical supervision in psycho-social interventions for people with severe anorexia nervosa including supportive clinical management, CBT-ED and MANTRA for all nurses across the Adult ED pathway.
