A rewarding opportunity for a qualified education professional to support adult community learning, teaching and assessing, learner progression and the development of study programme provision for young people. This role is officially known as a Programme Development Worker.

SALARY: £31,347 to £34,317 FTE (Grade 9) (Actual Salary for Part-Time Hours is: £15,673 to £17,158 per annum + Benefits)

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 18.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE), worked equally on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9am until 3.30pm (6.1 hours each day)

JOB OVERVIEW: This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners, teaching staff and curriculum development within community education provision. You will teach and assess learners, support programme development, promote high-quality teaching and learning, and help monitor achievement, progression and recruitment. You will also liaise with partner agencies and families, support work experience placements and contribute to safe, inclusive and effective learning provision.

DUTIES

  • Teaching and Assessment: Teach and assess learners as a qualified tutor, supporting high-quality learning and learner achievement.
  • Programme Development: Support the development and implementation of adult community learning programmes within the agreed locality and curriculum area.
  • Staff Support: Assist with the management, support and development of tutors and delivery staff, including performance, training and workforce development.
  • Quality Improvement: Contribute to quality assurance, self-assessment, improvement planning and observation of learning and teaching.
  • Learner Progression: Monitor achievement, retention, success and progression, helping learners move towards positive next steps.
  • Partnership Working: Build effective relationships with partner agencies, families, employers and education sector colleagues.
  • Work Experience Placements: Develop and support work experience opportunities linked to study programme provision.
  • Safeguarding and Safety: Follow safeguarding, safe learner, equality, health and safety and risk management procedures across the service.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Teaching experience within a post-19 education environment.
  • Experience of observation of learning and teaching.
  • Experience working in teams to improve achievement and the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Successful partnership working with other agencies and individuals.
  • Experience of assessment, verification and accreditation of provision.
  • Experience of subject development and creating effective teaching and learning resources.
  • Good awareness of issues affecting the post-19 education sector.
  • Good understanding of retention, achievement and learner success strategies.
  • Good understanding of equality, diversity, inclusion, safeguarding, health and safety and quality assurance in a learning environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organisation and time management skills.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, travel as required and work flexibly across service functions.
  • L4 or higher teaching qualification and a current assessor award or higher.

DESIRABLE

  • Teaching experience within a young people’s education environment.
  • Recruitment, development and management of staff.
  • Delivering peer-to-peer support and development of others.
  • Experience of marketing and communications.
  • Awareness of education sector funding structures and methodology.
  • IT Skills to Level 2.
  • Good performance management skills.
  • Occupational competence to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualifications.
