The General Intensive Care Unit at the Bristol Royal Infirmary has an exciting opportunity due to expansion for motivated and experienced Band 5 nurses to join our team. There is no better time to join Critical care at The Bristol Foundation Trust with our new build and expansion of Critical Care services. We are also commissioned for the Bristol ECMO service for the South West in conjunction with North Bristol Trust and have an established Outreach and Research team.

You will join our team in our General Intensive Care unit who care for patients from diverse specialities across the region as we are a tertiary referral centre for thoracic, ENT, GI surgery, oncology, cardiac and ECMO. This incorporates emergencies, planned elective care and long term rehabilitation for critically dependent patients.

We have a shared culture on inclusiveness within our unit and work collaboratively with our large multi-disciplinary team including medical staff, therapists, dietitians, pharmacy, speech and language, research and SNOD's to provide excellent care for our patients. We are committed to staff development and the opportunity for all of our staff to grow. Our team of innovative practice educators strive to support staff with this.

  • In partnership with other professionals and disciplines, develop measurable patient care plans. The process should include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care from admission to timely discharge.
  • Take charge of the clinical needs of defined patients on the ward prioritising workload according to changing clinical need.
  • Ensure nursing documentation is maintained accurately and in a timely manner in line with the Trust standard.
  • Demonstrate awareness and compliance with Trust policies, procedures, guidelines and work towards promoting this to others.
