About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Personal Tutor to provide tailored educational and personal care support for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with complex learning difficulties, physical disabilities, autism, and profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).

The successful candidate will work closely with individual learners, supporting their academic development, personal independence, communication skills, and wellbeing.

This role requires a strong commitment to person-centred support and the ability to provide personal care with dignity, respect, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalised learning activities to support literacy, numeracy, communication, and life skills development.
  • Adapt teaching and learning materials to meet individual learner needs and EHCP outcomes.
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support during lessons, enrichment activities, and community-based learning.
  • Support learners with personal care, including toileting, continence care, dressing, feeding, and personal hygiene.
  • Assist with mobility and physical support needs using safe manual handling techniques and specialist equipment.
  • Support learners with medical needs, including medication administration and PEG feeding where appropriately trained.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, social interaction, and self-advocacy.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner progress and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and care plan procedures at all times.
  • Experience supporting learners with SEND, complex needs, or disabilities.
  • Experience delivering personalised educational support or tutoring.
  • Confidence providing personal and intimate care.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Patient, flexible, and caring approach.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting learner welfare.

Desirable Qualifications & Training

  • Teaching, tutoring, SEND, Health & Social Care, or Learning Support qualification.
  • Manual Handling training.
  • Medication Administration training.
  • PEG Feeding training.
  • Makaton, Team Teach, or Positive Behaviour Support training.
  • Experience supporting learners with PMLD, autism, or complex medical needs.
