The Bridge School is a Pupil Referral Unit for Secondary aged students. Many students experience varied barriers to learning, including developmental and behavioural challenges. Within the school there is a strong need to support students' reading and wider literacy skills, as well as developing core skills in numeracy. Both areas are central to student support.

Teaching staff and students will benefit from proactive Teacher Assistants who will be able to organise and present resources that support the ongoing needs of the classroom and individuals. As a Teacher Assistant, you will provide consistent and positive support to the team of teaching staff and the students, enhancing the effectiveness of the current staff team.

Your role will mainly support Centre 37, with possible work at the main school and satellite sites. You will demonstrate strong communication with students, manage challenging behaviour in a progressive, systematic and solution-focused manner, and independently supervise and manage small groups of students under the direction of teaching staff.

You will also support students' social skills, emotional needs and mental health, understanding how child development impacts progress and participation. You will be passionate about making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged young people, flexible and adaptable when working with a range of students, and resilient in a challenging environment.

Professional and personal standards will be high, and you will consistently communicate them appropriately and proportionately, while remaining committed to safeguarding students at all times. Additional duties may arise in response to the developing needs of the school and its students.

The Teacher Assistant position will be directly line-managed by the Assistant Head teachers and SENDco Mrs Williamson. Informal discussions are welcome, and visits to the school prior to the closing date can be arranged by calling the school office on 01928-581301.

You must obtain a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check or Enhanced DBS Check for Regulated Activity. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students and expects all staff to share this commitment.

In order to reflect the gender cohort profile of our student community, we encourage applications from male or female candidates who demonstrate the relevant skills and aptitudes. The school and council are an equal opportunities organisation which welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
