Our school provides a six‑place SEMH Resource Provision, supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs so they can progress alongside their peers. We seek a teaching assistant passionate about supporting children with SEMH needs, who will work under the guidance of the SEMH Teacher and build positive relationships with the children to help them return to mainstream schools when ready.
Responsibilities
- The role involves working as part of a team, planning and delivering individualised learning on cross‑curricular levels, and helping pupils manage behaviour and social‑emotional difficulties to facilitate academic and personal development.
- Work with children with SEMH needs and resultant behavioural difficulties, helping them overcome challenges in their education.
- Raise standards of SEMH learners using a range of teaching strategies in line with the school’s policies and procedures.
- Plan and implement programmes of support for EYFS and KS1 children with SEMH concerns under the guidance of the SEMH Teacher.
- Set the ethos of the SEMH Provision and support the SEMH Teacher to ensure high standards and consistency.
- Communicate effectively with staff and parents/carers about the learning needs of pupils with SEMH concerns.
Qualifications & Experience
A successful candidate will have experience working with and supporting challenging pupils, and demonstrate a strong understanding of effective behaviour management.
