The role

The Senior Footwear Designer is responsible for leading the design process for their category, developing innovative concepts, and bringing new products to market. They are very experienced in footwear design and have a strong understanding of the technical make of footwear. The Senior Footwear Designer will drive the creative vision for their category in line with the overall creative direction for the brand. This role involves managing the design lifecycle and always ensuring timelines are met, with an ability to work at pace when needed. The Senior Footwear Designer also mentors and guides more junior design team members.

What you’ll be doing (key responsibilities)

• Delivering at pace the Design vision for footwear whilst working closely with the Creative Lead
• Designing a well balanced range that provides price architecture, variety of end use and variety of customer profile
• Lead the day-to-day design of footwear, from concept to final sample. Creating a commercial collection aligned with our AllSaints aesthetic
• Manage the design process, including research, sketching, material sourcing, tech packing, reviewing protos & SMS and ensuring adherence to the critical path
• Strive to ensure all materials, trims, processes, etc., are sustainable and align with the company’s ethical standards.
• Support any special collaboration projects
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers and assistant designers
• Collaborate with the footwear Buyer to ensure design vision is executed and key commercial styles are kept relevant and new
• Work closely with Retail and Wholesale teams making sure the storytelling of the collection is communicated through Seasonal Presentations and Product Knowledge meetings

WHAT WE’R LOOKING FOR (SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS)

• Proven experience as a Senior Footwear Designer or a very experienced Footwear Designer who is ready to step up to Senior, with a strong portfolio demonstrating creative design skills and successful product launches
• Experience of people management
• Exceptional creative design & research skills and a strong understanding of current trends and consumer preferences
• Strong understanding of the product development process, from concept to production, with the ability to manage complex projects.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration both internally with all product teams and externally with suppliers
• Technical expertise in footwear construction, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in design software (e.g., "Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop")
• Ability to create detailed technical sketches and specifications
• Awareness of sustainability principles and ethical sourcing practices in the fashion industry
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop junior team members
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic AllSaints environment
