Finance Manager - UK (12 month Fixed Term Contract) – Allpress Espresso
We’ve been roasting speciality coffee for over 30 years. From humble beginnings as a little coffee cart in Auckland, NZ, Allpress has evolved into a sophisticated brand that stands for flavour and service. Right from the start three core principles have formed the backbone of our business – People, Flavour and Innovation.
We are united in our genuine care for each other, our customers, and our belief in what we do. We need great people who will bring their imagination, skills and most importantly, their passion to our business.
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced and commercially minded Finance Manager to join our UK team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, covering a period of parental leave.
Reporting to the General Manager Finance – Allpress International, with an indirect line to the General Manager – UK, and sitting on the UK Leadership Team, you’ll be the senior finance leader for the UK business. You’ll play a key role in ensuring financial stability, maintaining strong controls and providing commercial insight that supports decision‑making across the organisation.
This is a broad role that combines strategic business partnering with hands‑on operational leadership. You’ll oversee the day‑to‑day finance function while helping leaders across the business understand performance, make informed decisions and deliver on our growth ambitions.
We’re looking for someone who can quickly build relationships, provide confident advice and keep important finance initiatives moving while ensuring business‑as‑usual remains seamless.
This is a fixed‑term 12‑month parental leave contract that starts in November 2026. The role is based in London and is mostly office‑based, with some working from home possible.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the UK finance function and providing continuity of leadership.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to the UK Leadership Team, helping drive accountability and strong commercial decision‑making.
- Delivering high‑quality management reporting, forecasting, budgeting and financial planning.
- Overseeing month‑end reporting, statutory accounts, audits, UK tax and regulatory compliance (including EPR).
- Supporting commercial decisions through financial analysis, pricing reviews and investment cases.
- Partnering with teams across sales, operations, cafés and supply chain to improve business performance.
- Coaching and developing the UK finance team.
- Overseeing cash flow, inventory and stock controls, capex, leases, credit control and payroll.
- Supporting key strategic projects, including the transition to our new UK roastery.
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and ways of working.
About you
You’re a senior finance professional who enjoys operating as both a strategic partner and a hands‑on leader.
You know how to turn financial information into meaningful insight and aren’t afraid to challenge thinking when needed. You’re equally comfortable presenting to senior leaders, developing your team, reviewing month‑end reconciliations or rolling up your sleeves to solve operational problems.
You’ll likely bring:
- ACA (ICAEW), ACCA or CA (ICAS) qualification (essential).
- Significant experience in a senior finance leadership role.
- Strong commercial acumen and business partnering skills, including pricing, margin and customer profitability across wholesale, retail and hospitality channels.
- Experience leading budgets, forecasts and long‑term planning processes.
- Excellent financial analysis and modelling capabilities.
- Experience managing audits, statutory reporting, UK tax compliance and financial controls.
- Hands‑on inventory management experience across raw materials, semi‑finished and finished goods.
- Systems change experience, ideally including stock coding and production data integration.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience of Workday Adaptive Planning (or a similar planning tool) and BI tools would be an advantage.
- A collaborative, pragmatic approach and the ability to build credibility quickly.
- Experience in a fast‑paced SME or owner‑managed business, comfortable getting into the detail and working with largely manual accounting systems. A manufacturing, FMCG, hospitality or food and beverage background would be highly valued.
