The Application Specialist at AllPoints Fibre Networks plays a vital role in ensuring our business‑critical applications remain reliable, secure, and scalable as APFN continues to grow. You’ll work across a complex application landscape spanning cloud and on‑prem environments, collaborating closely with IT colleagues, cyber security, delivery teams, partners, and the wider business to support day‑to‑day operations while continuously improving the services we deliver. This role suits someone who enjoys combining hands‑on application support with service ownership, problem‑solving, and stakeholder collaboration.
About AllPoints Fibre Networks: AllPoints Fibre is revolutionising connectivity across the UK. As a full‑fibre network wholesaler, we make it easier for service providers to access high‑speed broadband through a powerful, API‑driven platform that unifies leading networks such as Openreach, BT Wholesale, and CityFibre. Our platform, Aquila, enables automation, real‑time visibility, and rapid scalability — making APFN a great environment for people who enjoy working with modern systems, complex integrations, and technology that genuinely enables others.
What you’ll be doing: In this role, you’ll support and develop APFN’s application estate across its full lifecycle. Your work will include:
- Owning the stability, support, and performance of core business applications
- Providing 2nd and 3rd line application support, investigating issues and minimising business impact
- Managing application lifecycle activities such as onboarding, configuration, upgrades, optimisation, and decommissioning
- Working closely with IT teams, cyber security, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure services meet agreed standards
- Configuring, testing, and deploying application updates and patches
- Leading and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across application and service processes
- Monitoring and reporting on application performance and service metrics
- Creating and maintaining application and systems documentation
- Translating business requirements into technical acceptance criteria for development teams
- Sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues through collaboration and coaching
About you: You enjoy working within complex application environments and take pride in keeping systems running well. You’re comfortable troubleshooting issues, improving processes, and working with people from different technical and non‑technical backgrounds. You approach problems methodically, communicate clearly, and are motivated by delivering reliable, well‑run services.
Your skills and experience: We’re interested in candidates who can demonstrate experience or knowledge in some of the following areas:
- Supporting and operating business‑critical applications
- Working across cloud and/or on‑prem environments
- Application lifecycle management
- API orchestration or integration technologies
- SQL‑based technologies such as PostgreSQL
- Troubleshooting and resolving application or system issues
- Collaborating with developers, vendors, and business stakeholders
Experience with the following would be advantageous but is not essential:
- Cloud platforms such as AWS
- Tools including Camunda, Grafana, or Datadog
- Exposure to IT service management practices (e.g. ITIL)
The benefits at APFN: At AllPoints Fibre Networks, we’re committed to supporting your wellbeing — at work and beyond. Your benefits include:
- Private medical insurance and dental cover with Bupa
- Income protection and group life insurance
- A health plan to support everyday expenses such as eye care
- Contributions towards wellbeing treatments (yes — including massages!)
- 30 days’ annual leave (pro rata) plus bank holidays
- Enhanced sickness and parental leave
- Employer‑contributory pension
- Cashback and voucher schemes to help with everyday costs

- Supporting under‑represented groups through initiatives such as our Women in Telecoms Network
- Investing in future talent through apprenticeships and mentoring
