The Sidings is based in the heart of Herefordshire, and is a unique cafe and farm shop experience. Our aim is to showcase the many ingredients Herefordshire has to offer. We deliver imaginative seasonal menus, and offer a unique experience to all our guests. We now have a position for a Kitchen Porter to join our kitchen team in The Sidings.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to join us who has a strong work ethic and a passion for maintaining kitchen standards. We offer great onsite facilities including a share of the tips, free gym on site, group pension scheme, income protection, life assurance, private health care, EAP, free parking with access to charge electric cars as well as training and development opportunities. The days we are looking to cover this role will be Monday & Tuesdays, fixed term 10 hour contract until the end of September 2026. There may be a possibility for extra hours as required.

As a Kitchen Porter, you will be doing:

  • Basic food preparation.
  • Washing up, cleaning and clearing kitchen areas.
  • Emptying bins, sweeping and mopping floors.
  • Ensuring all equipment is clean and put away correctly.
  • Deep cleaning of fridges and store rooms to maintain sanitary and kitchen safety standards.
  • Unloading and putting away any deliveries.
  • To undertake any reasonable request trained to do.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Level 1 Food Safety Award/knowledge of food hygiene practices.
  • Awareness of manual handling techniques.
  • Awareness of COSHH regulations and chemical safety.
  • Experience of kitchen equipment.
  • Experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
  • Knowledge of kitchen health & safety.
  • Proven effective communication skills and team qualities.
  • Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes.
  • Ability to be organised in your work.
  • Ability to multi-task when required.
