The Sidings is based in the heart of Herefordshire, and is a unique cafe and farm shop experience. Our aim is to showcase the many ingredients Herefordshire has to offer. We deliver imaginative seasonal menus, and offer a unique experience to all our guests.

We now have a position for a Kitchen Porter to join our kitchen team in The Sidings. We are looking for an enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to join us who has a strong work ethic and a passion for maintaining kitchen standards.

The days we are looking to cover this role will be Monday & Tuesdays, fixed term 10 hour contract until the end of September 2026. There may be a possibility for extra hours as required.

As a Kitchen Porter, you will be doing:

  • Basic food preparation
  • Washing up, cleaning and clearing kitchen areas
  • Emptying bins, sweeping and mopping floors
  • Ensuring all equipment is clean and put away correctly
  • Deep cleaning of fridges and store rooms to maintain sanitary and kitchen safety standards
  • Unloading and putting away any deliveries
  • To undertake any reasonable request trained to do

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Level 1 Food Safety Award/knowledge of food hygiene practices
  • Aware of manual handling techniques
  • Aware of COSHH regulations and chemical safety
  • Experience of kitchen equipment
  • Experience in a commercial kitchen environment
  • Knowledge of kitchen health & safety
  • Proven effective communication skills and team qualities
  • Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes
  • Ability to be organised in your work
  • Ability to multi-task when required
