Carriages is based in the heart of Herefordshire, and is a unique restaurant experience. Our aim is to showcase the many ingredients Herefordshire has to offer. We deliver imaginative seasonal menus, and offer a unique experience to all our guests.

We are looking for a professional Chef de Partie to join our team in Carriages to complement our fine dining experience. We are looking for an enthusiastic chef who has a real passion and flair for food and takes the utmost pride in the food that is served to our customers.

In this role, you will be:

  • Setting up the kitchen prior to opening.
  • Ensuring adequacy of supplies at the cooking stations.
  • Preparing ingredients that should be frequently available.
  • As food orders come into the kitchen, start preparing the portions of the order in your section.
  • Controlling and managing stock.
  • Wrapping unused items and storing them in proper areas at the end of the shift.
  • Cleaning the kitchen before the restaurant closes.
  • Enforcing strict health and hygiene standards.

We offer on top of your salary a share of tips as well as other benefits.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Previous experience at a Commis or Chef de Partie level.
  • Proven experience in prep and culinary skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Proven excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and processes.
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of best cooking practices.
  • Proven organisational skills.
  • Proven listening and communication skills as well as written skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new recipes and new cooking procedures.
  • Proven effective time management skills.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly.
  • Food Hygiene certificate.
  • Ability to be flexible with working hours.
