The mission of this role is to lead and manage the end-to-end transport operations across the business, ensuring that all customer orders are delivered safely, efficiently, and in excellent condition. You will be responsible for driving high operational standards, maintaining delivery schedules, and ensuring on-time, in-full performance every day. Through effective planning, team leadership, and a strong focus on compliance and continuous improvement, you will play a key role in delivering a reliable, customer-focused service that supports the wider success and reputation of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership, Management and Accountability for your team (LMA) including daily allocation of drivers to vehicle runs
  • Ensure drivers prebrief and debrief are fulfilled along with POD’s
  • Ensure the trucks are checked and serviced to required standards and that accurate records are maintained
  • Ensure drivers report any problems related to vehicles and/or damaged products
  • Manage tachograph records to ensure company and driver compliance
  • Ensure all transport safety standards are upheld
  • Hands on approach to the maintenance of and rectifying minor defects on vehicles before departure
  • Manage service and maintenance of vehicles and trailers, ensuring daily vehicle checks are carried out and risk assessments are kept up to date
  • Ensure vehicle breakdowns are managed effectively
  • Responsible for and to carry out actions relating to any audits conducted by VOSA and assist drivers on any road incidents
  • Responsible for and to carry out actions for the FORS accreditation ensuring compliance by vehicles that are well maintained
  • Maintaining the company’s operating licence
  • Assisting with the maintenance of the BRC accreditation
  • Work closely with the Logistics Manager for customer deliveries
  • Assisting with the movement of stock between company warehouses
