Role Overview
The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that incoming materials, components, and in‑process parts conform to specified requirements. Duties include dimensional inspection using CMM equipment, first article inspection, and goods‑in inspection to maintain product quality and compliance with internal and customer standards.
Incoming Inspection
- Perform incoming inspection of raw materials, machined components, and purchased parts against drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements.
- Verify certificates (CoC, material certificates, inspection records).
- Record inspection results and release or quarantine parts accordingly.
- Raise and manage non‑conformance reports (NCRs).
- Communicate quality issues with internal stakeholders.
CMM Inspection
- Conduct dimensional inspection using CMM equipment.
- Run and support modification of CMM programs.
- Perform first article inspection (FAI) and production inspections.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models.
- Report inspection results clearly and accurately.
General Quality
- Use manual inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.).
- Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and suitable for use.
- Maintain complete and accurate quality records, e.g., calibration log.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Assist with audits and continuous improvement activities.
Essential Skills
- Experience in a Quality Technician or inspection role within manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of CMM inspection processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience with incoming goods inspection.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 or similar quality system.
Desired Skills
- Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality qualification (NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent).
- CMM training or certification (preferred).
