Role Description
The Business Development Representative is the engine behind Allied Offsets’ sales pipeline.
This role owns the outbound motion, cold calling, emailing, and prospecting, as well as qualifying inbound interest, with the goal of consistently generating a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities for the BDE team to close.
This is a high-activity, front-line role suited to someone who is persistent, organized, and energized by conversations.
You’ll spend most of your time reaching out to new prospects, qualifying their fit, and booking meetings, so comfort with rejection and a disciplined approach to follow-up are essential.
You’ll work closely with BDEs, Marketing, and Product to make sure the leads you generate are well-qualified and set up for a smooth handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Outbound Outreach
- Make outbound cold calls to prospective leads within target markets, following up consistently until connected or disqualified
- Send targeted cold emails and follow-up sequences to prospects, tailoring messaging to different segments and personas
- Hit daily/weekly activity targets for calls, emails, and touches as set by the Commercial and Business Development Manager
- Test and iterate on outreach scripts, subject lines, and cadences to improve response and connect rates
- Lead Qualification
- Engage with inbound and outbound leads to understand their needs, challenges, and potential fit for Allied Offsets
- Qualify leads against defined criteria (BANT) via 15-minute qualifying calls
- Schedule meetings and demos for qualified leads with the BDE team
- Apply judgement on lead quality, escalating or deprioritising where fit is unclear
- Lead Generation & Prospecting
- Research and identify potential clients within target markets as directed by BDMs or AO leadership
- Build and manage a pipeline of leads using tools such as Linked In Sales Navigator, Apollo, and Hub Spot
- Collaborate with the Marketing team on outbound campaigns, including identifying and screening target audiences
- Continuously refine prospecting and qualification approach based on what’s converting
- Pipeline Management
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all lead interactions and progress in Hub Spot
- Track and report on key metrics, calls made, emails sent, leads generated, qualifying calls booked, conversion rates, etc.
- Follow up with leads consistently to keep them moving through the funnel
- Flag stalled or at-risk leads proactively rather than letting them go cold
- Team Collaboration
- Work closely with BDEs to ensure a smooth handover of qualified leads
- Share feedback from customer engagements and demos to help improve the product
- Keep up to date with product changes and evolution to communicate effectively with leads
- Support the wider team with tasks and projects as needed
- Market Awareness
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and the voluntary carbon market
- Understand the full sales process, including onboarding and account management, to speak credibly with leads and colleagues about how sales works at Allied Offsets
- Share market and lead insights with the sales and marketing teams to help sharpen targeting
Requirements
- Prior experience in a BDR, SDR, or similar outbound/lead-generation role (0-2 years)
- Proven comfort with high-volume cold calling and cold emailing, and resilience in the face of rejection
- Strong organizational skills, able to manage a high volume of leads and follow-ups without letting things slip
- Clear, confident communicator, able to quickly build rapport on a cold call
- Familiarity with CRM and prospecting tools (Hub Spot, Linked In Sales Navigator, Apollo, or similar)
- Experience in or genuine interest in climate, sustainability, or the voluntary carbon market is a plus
