The predicted salary is between 50000 - 70000 £ per year.

This position is responsible for underwriting a diverse book of business, employing the methods necessary to meet projected profitability, GWP, and expense goals, management and growth of the overall portfolio of business within the appropriate underwriting discipline/guidelines, marketing and servicing of existing and potential insured’s. The position will also require a basic knowledge of Property insurance to assist with the underwriting of Commercial Combined business.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general underwriting functions including submission review, pricing analysis, setting terms and conditions, and quote/binder/invoice authorizations
  • Ensure timely and correct issuance of bound policies
  • Craft endorsement wordings for legal authorization
  • Provide direction to Underwriting Support Assistant for timely processing of policy/endorsement wordings
  • Perform referrals with VP Casualty and SVP Casualty as required
  • Maintain underwriting files and reporting systems according to guidelines
  • Consult with Actuarial Department for specific account pricing when appropriate
  • Liaise with Claims Department on specific claim matters and market claim concerns
  • Stay current with industry issues and developments
  • Travel to meetings throughout Ireland and Europe as required
  • Assist in training underwriting and support staff
  • Complete project work as required
  • Plan and monitor business portfolio
  • Perform other assigned duties

Qualifications

  • 5 years experience underwriting Casualty accounts in Irish or European Retail/Wholesale market
  • Basic knowledge of underwriting Property accounts
  • Strong marketing, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Excellent knowledge of standard market policy and endorsement wordings
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work
  • Effective interpersonal skills and teamwork ability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good knowledge of technical rating tools
