We are looking for an enthusiastic claims handler to join our First Party Claims team. The team are responsible for managing all claims emanating from our Construction, Property, Marine, Bespoke and run off Aviation and Political Risk/Credit books of business on both Syndicate and Company platforms.

The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be to handle construction and property claims which includes UK, European and International business. There will also be the opportunity to work with and be mentored by senior members of the team through learning and development opportunities and where possible to provide support on some large / complex losses within in the First Party book.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, adjust and assess claims within own defined authority.
  • Establish file strategies and settle claims in accordance with policy terms.
  • Ensure potential large / complex claims are identified and escalated to claims management.
  • Broker and client engagement as required.
  • Demonstrate good vendor / expert management.
  • Comply with internal procedures, Lloyd’s Principles and all regulatory and statutory requirements relating to claims handling and company procedures.
  • Attend market claims meetings as required.
  • Regular engagement and providing claim support to the underwriting teams and claims management.
  • Understand and adhere to KPI targets / performance measures.
  • Other tasks / duties / projects can be expected and as required.

Person Specification:

  • ~2-5 years of first party / specialty claims handling experience within in the London Market / Lloyds.
  • ~ Demonstrating technical understanding of claims processes and policy interpretation.
  • ~ Able to handle a diverse range of claims and responsibilities.
  • ~ Experience of managing Lawyers, Loss Adjusters and other vendors.
  • ~ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • ~ The ability to work in a team environment whilst being self-motivated and performance driven.
  • ~ Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • ~ Insurance qualifications / certificates or progression towards are an advantage.
