Role Overview:
This position involves underwriting a diverse portfolio, meeting profitability, GWP, and expense goals, managing and growing the portfolio within guidelines, and marketing and servicing existing and potential clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze errors and omissions and assess risks of insurance agents;
- Evaluate potential clients and present findings in daily discussions;
- Develop broker relationships nationwide;
- Maintain a renewal retention rate of at least 70%;
- Mentor new underwriters as the team expands;
- Participate in training sessions and conferences;
- Assist with special projects under management supervision;
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and procedures;
- Perform general underwriting tasks including review, pricing, and setting terms;
- Coordinate with Actuarial Department for specific accounts;
- Collaborate with Claims Department on claims activities and market concerns;
- Ensure adherence to audit and administrative guidelines;
- Engage in marketing activities such as client/broker meetings and social events;
- Stay informed on industry developments;
- Support the implementation of iBind and marketing initiatives;
- Train underwriting assistants and junior staff;
- Conduct appetite review forums;
- Develop and update proposal forms and E&O documentation;
- Prepare reports for senior management;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Person Specification:
