Job Summary:
This position is responsible for underwriting a diverse book of business, employing the methods necessary to meet projected profitability, GWP, and expense goals, management and growth of the overall portfolio of business within the appropriate underwriting discipline/guidelines, marketing and servicing of existing and potential insured’s. The position will also require a basic knowledge of Property insurance to assist with the underwriting of Commercial Combined business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform general underwriting functions including submission review, pricing analysis, setting terms and conditions, and quote/binder/invoice authorizations
- Ensure timely and correct issuance of bound policies
- Craft endorsement wordings for legal authorization
- Provide direction to Underwriting Support Assistant for timely processing of policy/endorsement wordings
- Perform referrals with VP Casualty and SVP Casualty as required
- Maintain underwriting files and reporting systems according to guidelines
- Consult with Actuarial Department for specific account pricing when appropriate
- Liaise with Claims Department on specific claim matters and market claim concerns
- Stay current with industry issues and developments
- Travel to meetings throughout Ireland and Europe as required
- Assist in training underwriting and support staff
- Complete project work as required
- Plan and monitor business portfolio
- Perform other assigned duties
