As a Security Officer Access Control Lead in Portsmouth, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Aero/Defense, and more. Join Allied Universal at a dynamic aerospace and defense location, where you will manage access control, monitor assigned areas, and perform routine patrols that help to deter security‑related incidents. In this role, you will deliver outstanding customer service and communication while supporting a caring, agile, and reliable team that values innovation, teamwork, and integrity every day.

Pay Rate: $18.50 / Hour

Job Schedule: DayTime Mon 06:00 AM – 02:00 PM, Tue 06:00 AM – 02:00 PM, Wed 06:00 AM – 02:00 PM, Thur 06:00 AM – 02:00 PM, Sun 06:00 AM – 02:00 PM

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and/or contractors by following site‑specific access control procedures, credential verification steps, and security‑related policies at an aerospace and defense location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, screen authorized individuals and/or vehicles, maintain visitor logs, and report access irregularities or security‑related concerns to site leadership.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, following post orders and emergency response protocols for restricted and controlled areas.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter, observing for unusual activity, unsecured access points, and/or conditions that could impact operations.
  • Support security‑related documentation and communication by preparing clear incident reports, documenting daily activities, and relaying important information during shift changes and to Allied Universal management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A current CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
  • A current guard card or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
