As a Security Officer - TWIC Entry Control in Portsmouth, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government. As an Access Control Officer at a busy government waterfront location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, and guide visitors and vendors while maintaining detailed logs and clear radio communication. You will conduct routine rounds nearby, remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and support daily operations with a professional, customer-focused approach.

Pay Rate: $17.25 / Hour

Job Schedule: Day Time: Mon 12:00 PM - 07:00 PM, Wed 12:00 PM - 07:00 PM, Thur 12:00 PM - 07:00 PM

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to visitors, contractors, and staff by following site-specific access control procedures, identification requirements, and authorized entry protocols at a government location.
  • Control entry and exit at designated checkpoints by verifying credentials, issuing visitor passes as required, and documenting arrivals and departures in written and/or electronic logs.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, radios, and other security-related systems to help identify unauthorized access, policy violations, and/or unusual activity, and report findings per post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including coordinating notifications to site leadership and/or emergency services as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around buildings, restricted areas, parking areas, and the perimeter, with working environments and conditions that may vary by post assignment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A TSA issued TWIC is required.
  • A Guard Card and/or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
