An unarmed patrol Security Officer (Part Time TIG TWIC Patrol Detail) in Portsmouth, VA will serve and safeguard clients across a variety of industries such as Government. In this active role, you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, remain visible to deter security-related incidents, and deliver outstanding customer service and communication. Position Details

  • Pay Rate: $17.25 / Hour
  • Job Schedule: DayTime Fri 02:00 PM - 10:00 PM, Sat 02:00 PM - 10:00 PM, Sun 02:00 PM - 10:00 PM

What You'll Do

  • Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and authorized personnel by following site‑specific security‑related procedures, access guidelines, and emergency response protocols at a government location.
  • Respond to incidents, unusual activity, and critical situations calmly and with problem‑solving, documenting observations and notifying appropriate contacts as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout assigned buildings, entry points, parking areas, waterfront/perimeter zones, and other restricted areas to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor entrances, gates, and credentialed access points, verifying identification and/or authorization for personnel, visitors, and deliveries in accordance with site policies.
  • Support daily operations by reporting hazards, maintenance concerns, and policy violations, and assisting with security‑related inquiries while maintaining a professional presence.

Minimum Requirements

  • Possess a TSA Issued TWIC. A guard card/license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
