As a Security Officer - Government Access Control in Portsmouth, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients across a range of industries such as government. Assigned to a government location, you will deter security-related incidents by monitoring access points and conducting routine patrols. Your visible presence will help create a secure environment, while your commitment to outstanding customer service and clear communication will support everyone on site.

What You’ll Do:
- Assist with access control procedures at the location, verifying credentials of individuals entering and exiting the premises.
- Help deter unauthorized entry by monitoring entry/exit points and reporting suspicious activity.
- Provide customer service to clients, visitors, and employees by addressing inquiries professionally.
- Carry out security-related procedures and site-specific policies, adapting to the location’s requirements.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly and problem-solving following established protocols.
- Conduct regular and random patrols around the premises and perimeter to identify and report irregularities or potential concerns.
- Assist with emergency response activities as appropriate, coordinating with relevant personnel and first responders.
- Document and report all security-related incidents, observations, and activities per company and client guidelines.
Minimum Requirements:
- A Transportation Security Administration issued Transportation Worker Identification Credential is required.
- A guard card or license is preferred.
- Minimum age of 18 for unarmed roles; 21 for armed roles.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories consistently with applicable laws.
- Applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
