An exciting opportunity for the position of Plantation Forester has arisen for suitably qualified and experienced persons at Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd. Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd is an extensive, local and international provider of high quality and durable timber-based solutions for both industrial, domestic and end user markets. The successful incumbent will report to the Estate Manager and shall be based at Stapleford Estate.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Preparing and monitoring of annual harvesting/silviculture and roads Annual Plan of Operations
- Achieving set fire protection, environmental management, safety, and quality targets.
- Controlling labour and transport logistics
- Supervising time book entries and the reporting of daily figures for operations
- Evaluating weekly operational progresses
- Conducting routine plantation patrol and scouting for plantation damages, pest or diseases
- Making fire action plans
- Making environment management plans
Qualifications And Experience:
- Diploma in Forestry or related field. Degree in Forestry would be an added advantage.
- 2 yearsβ forest management experience in a similar role.
Skills And Knowledge:
- A team player and self-motivated β able to identify and rectify skills gaps and recommending interventions.
- Excellent presentation skills β Powerpoint
- Very analytical and comfortable with MS Excel spreadsheets
Remuneration:
A remuneration package commensurate with education and experience will be given to the successful candidate.
