About the role
We have a great opportunity for a Site Operative to join an experienced team, providing a first‑class service on behalf of our flour mill in Tilbury. As a key member of the Milling Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of consistently high quality products in a safe, efficient and cost‑effective environment.
Key accountabilities include:
- Carrying out Mill Food/Feed Safety Checks including HACCP Critical Control Points (CCPs).
- Supporting the Miller with daily running of the Mill including planned milling maintenance (cleaning sifters, purifiers and roller mills).
- Monitoring all Mill processes in the control room using the computer system and responding to, rectifying (first fix) and reporting all faults.
- Self‑managing holidays and cover for shift changes.
- Warehouse support duties – flour packing, forklift and re‑mill.
- Providing weighbridge cover when required.
- Supporting laboratory with out‑of‑hours QA checks to maintain product quality.
- Actively contributing to site standards and internal/external audits, ensuring a clean‑as‑you‑go approach at all times.
- Demonstrating a “Safety First” approach, proactive hazard reporting and working with the site team to target Zero Harm.
- Taking part in UK flour millers correspondence course, aiming to complete four modules within five years.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Great customer focus and flexible, adaptable approach.
- Self‑motivated, punctual, reliable and able to work on own initiative.
- Proven relevant flour milling experience.
- Computer literate including Word, Excel, Outlook.
