Role: Head of External Reporting – UK Finance
Location/Office Policy: Hybrid approach to working, which will include a blend of onsite (Belfast/London) and remote working (3 days per week in the office).
Lead the UK External Reporting team, overseeing all financial, statutory, and regulatory reporting for AIB UK, with direct accountability to the UK CFO and significant exposure to senior stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Champion high standards in governance, controls, and stakeholder management—presenting financial papers, managing auditor relationships, and representing AIB UK on regulatory matters.
Drive delivery of the Annual Financial Report and regulatory submissions, collaborating with Group Finance and leading a technical team in a dynamic, hybrid working environment.
Key responsibilities include extensive internal (Group Finance, UK Board Audit Committee, UK Board) and external stakeholder management (External Auditors, UK Regulators) and accountability for delivery of statutory and regulatory reporting to the Regulator.
- Responsibility for stakeholder management for UK BAC and UK Board regarding financial, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead a technical team to uphold high standards in statutory and regulatory reporting, governance, and controls.
- Deliver the AIB Group (UK) plc Annual Financial Report for UK Board Audit Committee and UK Board approval.
- Present accounting judgments and financial papers to relevant committees.
- Manage relationships with external and internal auditors.
- Responsible for all statistical and regulatory reporting to the UK Regulator, including COREP and FINREP, and interpreting and translating Regulatory guidance.
- Manage Third Party outsourced arrangements with Group Finance collaboratively.
- Maintain a robust risk and control environment, liaising with risk management and assurance teams across 3 lines of defence.
- Represent AIB UK on regulatory bodies and engage with regulators on evolving requirements.
AIB UK Finance is one of the key support and control functions for AIB UK and is key to AIB UK's success in delivering its strategic and financial objectives. We are a group of 25+ professionals operating from offices in Belfast and London, with responsibility for External Financial, Statutory and Regulatory Reporting, Asset & Liability Management (ALM) and Business Partnering.
What you will bring:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with 7-10+ years' experience in a Financial Reporting, Regulatory Reporting or other relevant role.
- IFRS experience including the production of statutory accounts.
- A proven ability and experience in interpreting and translating Regulatory guidance as it relates to regulatory reporting.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills including demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communications with proven experience in influencing and managing senior stakeholder expectations and chairing and presenting at senior UK/group forums.
- Experience in managing, developing and leading others in delivery, whilst embedding a strong culture of performance management, strong leadership and effective engagement strategies.
