Role Description

The CBAM Agent prepares accurate, on-time CBAM reports and declarations for Allied's clients and becomes a trusted day-to-day contact for them. Once fully trained, the role also delivers CBAM training and supports client meetings, so the service can grow without relying on one person

Key Responsibilities

CBAM reporting and compliance

  • Prepare quarterly and annual CBAM reports and declarations for EU and UK clients, ready for sign-off by the Head of CBAM.
  • Gather and check client import data: commodity codes, origin, net weights, suppliers and customs references.
  • Request, chase and review supplier emissions data, and apply default values where actual data is not available.
  • Calculate CBAM liabilities and certificate requirements, and prepare clear summaries for clients.
  • Upload and maintain data in the CBAM registry and reporting systems.
  • Keep accurate client files and an audit trail for every report.
  • Follow Allied's procedures and quality checks, and flag errors or risks early.
  • Keep up to date with changes to EU and UK CBAM rules.

Client meetings and account support

  • Attend and lead client meetings in person and on Microsoft Teams, including onboarding calls and monthly or quarterly reviews.
  • Explain CBAM reports, liabilities and deadlines to clients in clear, plain terms.
  • Act as a day-to-day point of contact for an agreed group of CBAM clients.
  • Take meeting notes and agree actions, then follow them up to completion.
  • Spot client needs for further Allied services, such as customs, consultancy or training, and pass them to the right colleague.

Training delivery (once fully trained)

  • Deliver CBAM training courses in person and online, including the IACBAM 3004 CBAM Fundamentals course, once certified to do so.
  • Support the lead trainer on course days: delegate registration, materials, room set-up and exam invigilation.
  • Run shorter client briefings and InterTradeIreland calls when required.
  • Travel to client sites and training venues across Northern Ireland, Ireland and Great Britain, which may occasionally include overnight stays.

Communication and administration

  • Answer client and supplier telephone calls professionally and log any actions.
  • Manage and respond to CBAM emails promptly, escalating technical questions where needed.
  • Arrange client meetings, training sessions and calls: diary invites, Teams links, venues and reminders.
  • Keep client records, the client tracker and CRM up to date.
  • Prepare clear written updates for clients and for internal management reports.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in customs, trade compliance, logistics or a similar regulated, detail-led role.
  • Strong numeracy and confidence with Microsoft Excel and large data sets.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to meet fixed deadlines.
  • Clear, professional written and spoken communication, including with senior client contacts.
  • Well organised, able to manage several clients and tasks at once.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel.
  • Knowledge of CBAM, carbon reporting or EU and UK customs regulations.
  • IACBAM or other recognised customs or CBAM qualification.
  • Experience of presenting or delivering training.
  • Experience with CDS, AIS or Thyme customs systems.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Full training in CBAM reporting, Allied's procedures and our reporting systems.
  • Sponsored IACBAM 3004 CBAM Fundamentals certification, with a route to become an IACBAM trainer.
  • Work alongside the Head of CBAM on client meetings and courses before taking them on independently.
  • Ongoing training as EU and UK CBAM rules develop.
