The role of a Bakery Support Operative is to safely and efficiently operate bakery equipment and maintain the cleanliness of the bread manufacturing plant. Working with others, achieve high levels of targeted performance, customer satisfaction and quality standards; this will be founded on a culture of continuous improvement, development and learning. It is expected that the jobholder will positively contribute to an environment where critical thinking and constructive challenging is the norm. This is a fast-paced environment job.

Key Accountabilities

  • Operate semi-automated baking machines
  • Manual handling of bread loaves and slices
  • Deliver product quality through all systems available and others
  • Provide on-job training support for new team members once experience is gained
  • Support Hygiene Team with cleaning and basket feeding when production finishes
  • Engage in Safety-First culture and comply with AB internal policies and procedures
  • Deliver product quality to required standards
  • Contribute to the delivery of a production plan
  • Identify own development and training needs
  • Participate in the proactive environment of learning (1:1’s)
  • Actively participate and contribute to sharing of best practice within manufacturing

The Right Person

  • Demonstrate a good level of Health and Food Safety awareness
  • Experience in shift working (ideally in manufacturing/warehouse environment)
  • Numerical, reading and information recording skills

Advantageous

  • Computer literate (understand and interact with HMI screens)
  • Ability to understand basic mechanical and fault finding skills
