Our Grocery Service Centre, based near Liverpool, is a hub for transactional activity across multiple ABF companies within the ABF Grocery division. We deliver Shared Service activities across a wide range of disciplines including Customer Services, Consumer Care, Finance, Payroll, HR and IS.

About The Role
Location: Walthamstow, Greater London.
Salary: Up to £54,000 (dependent on experience).
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Food Safety & Quality Systems Manager to manage a team of Quality Auditors and ensure the highest standards of food safety, quality, and environmental hygiene across site. This is a key leadership role, responsible for driving compliance with statutory regulations and company standards, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximise product quality and operational performance. You will play a critical role in maintaining effective quality management systems, influencing site teams, and ensuring best practice is embedded throughout the operation.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and manage a team of 2 Quality Auditors, driving performance, engagement, and development
- Provide expert guidance on food safety, legality, quality, and hygiene standards
- Ensure quality management systems, processes, and controls are implemented and followed
- Work closely with the Central Technical Team to implement and share best practice
- Support compliance with statutory regulations and company standards
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and reduce costs
- Support NPD and EPD launches, ensuring compliance with product specifications
- Manage food safety incidents and escalations where required
- Lead and support audits, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
- Build strong stakeholder relationships to influence and maintain high standards
- Deliver training and coaching on food safety and compliance
- Deputise for the Regional Technical Manager when required
About You
You are a proactive and confident leader with a strong technical background in food manufacturing, capable of influencing teams and driving high standards.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Technical or Hygiene role
- Graduate calibre (Food Science, or equivalent)
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
- Ability to train and coach on food safety and compliance
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- High attention to detail, even under pressure
- Passion for quality, safety, and continuous improvement
Desirable
- Experience in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of baking processes
- Level 3 HACCP
- IOSH Managing Safely
- Understanding of Continuous Improvement techniques
