Our Grocery Service Centre, based near Liverpool, is a hub for transactional activity across multiple ABF companies within the ABF Grocery division. Supporting some of our well-known brands such as Kingsmill, Pataks, Blue Dragon, Jordans, Ryvita and Silver Spoon, amongst others. We deliver Shared Service activities across a wide range of disciplines including Customer Services, Consumer Care, Finance, Payroll, HR and IS.

Overview Of Role

Location: Belfast

Annual Salary: £Negotiable

We are looking for a Transport Front Line Manager with proven management experience within the FMCG sector, preferably within the Food sector. You will be responsible for leading and managing a team of drivers and transport coordinators to ensure the safe delivery and/or collection of all goods to/from our customers and in accordance with all legal and company requirements.

In the short term the working pattern will be flexible covering days, nights and weekends.

Key Accountabilities

  • To set clear goals, targets and expectations of performance for all Drivers and Transport Coordinators on your shifts to ensure all relevant KPIs are met.
  • To ensure all drivers receive a daily debrief and the Transport Management Team are updated daily on performance.
  • To ensure all shift members are aware of and comply with environmental, health and safety, legal and company standards and that all shifts operate in compliance with the team.
  • To ensure optimal labour utilisation, by making best use of the Company Scheduling Systems and labour flexibility.
  • To recruit, train and develop Drivers and Coordinators who reflect the Company's values and who possess the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes and qualifications to perform effectively.
  • To execute continuous improvement action plans (e.g. PDP initiatives, productivity improvements etc), to ensure that targets are achieved.
  • To ensure that any service issues arising are addressed promptly and where appropriate, escalated as required.

The Right Person

Essential

  • 2 - 5 years experience managing teams within a transport, logistics, distribution, or operational environment
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, FMCG, or distribution environment.
  • Strong knowledge of transport compliance and health & safety requirements.
  • Ability to build good working relationships with employees, customers and suppliers.
  • Good leadership skills with a confident, open and honest style of communicating.
  • A strong customer focus, always willing to go the extra mile to deliver a good service.
  • An analytical thinker, capable of making effective decisions in a fast paced environment.
  • Self motivated with passion, enthusiasm, tenacity and resilience.
  • Lead by example with the "Safety First" message.

Desirable

  • CPC qualification or knowledge of Operator Licence requirements.
  • Food sector experience
