Our Grocery Service Centre, based near Liverpool, is a hub for transactional activity across multiple ABF companies within the ABF Grocery division. Supporting some of our well‑known brands such as Kingsmill, Pataks, Blue Dragon, Jordans, Ryvita and Silver Spoon, amongst others. We deliver Shared Service activities across a wide range of disciplines including Customer Services, Consumer Care, Finance, Payroll, HR and IS.

Overview Of Role
Location: Stevenage
Help shape the future of our people, culture and bakery teams. From producing some of the UK’s most recognised bakery brands to creating a workplace where colleagues feel valued, supported and able to thrive, our HR teams play a vital role in making that happen. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate HR professional to join our Stevenage Bakery as an HR Business Partner.
This is a highly visible, hands‑on role where no two days are the same. Working as part of a supportive on‑site HR team of two, and wider Regional HR team of 5, you’ll partner closely with operational leaders to help drive engagement, performance, capability and positive change across the site. If you enjoy building relationships, supporting managers, helping colleagues develop and making a real impact in a fast‑paced operational environment, this could be the perfect next step for you.
Key Accountabilities
- Supporting and coaching managers on employee relations matters including absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance cases
- Driving engagement, wellbeing and positive people initiatives across the bakery
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and succession planning activity
- Partnering with managers to build capability, confidence and leadership skills
- Supporting organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives
- Building positive relationships with Trade Union representatives and key stakeholders
- Supporting learning and development activity to help colleagues grow and succeed
- Using data and insight to support people decisions and regional HR priorities
- Playing an active role in creating an inclusive, supportive and high‑performing culture
You’ll Ideally Bring
- Previous HR generalist experience within a fast‑paced environment such as manufacturing, FMCG, logistics or operations
- CIPD qualification (part or fully qualified) or equivalent experience
- Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Experience supporting employee relations cases and coaching managers
- Good communication and relationship‑building skills
- A practical and solutions‑focused approach
- Confidence working independently while also being a collaborative team player
- Experience working with Trade Unions would be advantageous
